Program Overview
A Nourish Internship is divided between an individual project you will complete based on your chosen field, and immersing yourself into the day to day operations and running of the programme associated with your chosen field. You will also be studying a course in the UN Sustainable Development Goals and completing worksheets and a report as to how our program and your project contributes towards sustainable development.
Nourish Eco Village is based in the rural community of Sigagule. It is structured to be a learning experience for everyone involved, from staff to volunteers. Working hours is from Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm with an amazing team. Our entire team is very knowledgeable in their fields, so take the time to learn from and add value to your program.

Life at Nourish Eco Village

We engage with our communities through an Eco Village model with a variety of programming initiatives that fall under beneficiation, education, enterprise and tourism. All our projects are integrated, holistic and sustainable: to grow a better tomorrow.
We have a love for animals, so you'll get to play with our dogs, feed our donkeys and listen to the hyenas and linos roaring in the distnace at night.
Work hours at the Eco Village is Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Accommodation & Meals
Accomodation
The Nourish Eco Village runs a backpackers on the property. All volunteers and interns stay at the backpackers.
The rooms are shared between two people, but each person has their own bed and storage area
Meals
- You will have 3 meals per day
- Breakfast is help yourself
- Lunch and dinner is prepared by ShikShack staff every day
- All dietary requirements will be catered for

Tourism Activities
As work is from Monday to Friday you have the weekend to enjoy some of the most amazing destinations in the world.
Take a walk on the wild side and enjoy all the adventures this area has to offer during your stay at Shik Shack. There are a myriad of tours available which cater to all tastes, shapes and flavours.
From the Blyde River Canyon t the world famous Kruger National Park.

Flights & Arrivals
As part of the package, we will have one of our staff members meet you at the airport, or at the shuttle tranfer spot. We will arrange with you prior to your departure that a member of our staff will be there to welcome you Look out for the Nourish Eco Village sign. From there you will be transported to the Nourish Eco Village.
For shuttle options, please ask us direclty, as many companies are changing often due to the COVID tourism landscape.
Safety & Medical
Nourish Eco Village is located in the heart of the South African Lowveld, surrounded by both beautiful wildlife areas and an amazing variety of local cultures. There are multiple languages spoken in the area, but English is the main form of communication between peoples.
The area is very safe to travel to and our team being local can make your African experience one to remember!
Safety
- We are in a very safe community
- Our property has two security guards and a team of security dogs
- The property has electrified fencing to keep out roving wild animals
- We have an emergency security respons company that can be called upon in serious cases
Medical
- All supervisors at Nourish have First Aid training
- For all serious medical emergencies we call AfricaSafe-T. A medical emergency response group.
- The hospital we use is Tzaneen Private
