THE ECO VILLAGE MODEL AND OUTREACH

Nourish implements its projects in education, enterprise and empowerment in two ways

1) Through a physical space where people can come together to learn, eat, grow and be nourished and

2) Through community outreach into the villages that sit on the outskirts of the game reserves in the region, who struggle with lack of access to basic resources.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES

We focus on education, enterprise and ecotourism through an inclusive whole-community approach. Our methodology include inclusive community-engagement at a grassroots level.

Our ultimate goal is to empower change.

Permaculture & Agro-Ecology

We create food security through the establishment of a vegetable garden, incorporating permaculture principles such as composting, mulching and companion planting to both inspire the community and to able to harvest important vegetables.

Meal Program

It's impossible to concentrate and learn when you're hungry. Nourish provides 120 children with a warm nutritious meal each day.

Seedlings

Growing vegetable seedlings, and learning to propagate vegetables is an important part of sustainable farming. We grow seedlings for our food security garden, as well as for gardens at the schools we work with.

Chicken Farm

We farm chickens to provide protein for our meal program and also to generate income. By selling surplus eggs and chickens we help finance our Business Incubator program and some of our other running costs. In our usual sustainable fashion the chicken manure is used as compost for the gardens.

Hydroponics

Developing a water wise agricultural project is way to not only grow food for our Eco Village, but also provide training in new and sustainable farming techniques.

Ubuntu Girls

Every girl deserves to have confidence, self-esteem and a sense of security. Ubuntu Girls is a safe space where girls are supported in their personal growth through a series of programs dealing with topics like sexual health, menstruation confidence and self-defense.

Bridging the Gap between Communities and Conservation

 Through programming in:

Education - Enterprise - Tourism

CRADLE TO CAREER EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS

An educational pathway from cradle to career applied with a lens of economic, environmental and social sustainability and regeneration.

Our pathway is focused on growing people who are confident, well-rounded and have an authentic connection and understanding of the environment and natural heritage. Our aim is to create opportunities where individuals can make decisions about their own future, career and the environment they live in.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT

Through this programme, we equip young adults with the skills and capacity to enter and build sustainable and green focused enterprises.

This enables young people from wildlife communities enter, flourish, and grow their local economies through informed personal choices and green enterprise.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

Tourism is a key driver of the Nourish sustainability model. Tours of the Eco-Village and the local village give visitors an authentic community experience while supporting Nourish and local livelihoods. It's a way to help the communities benefit from the thriving tourism industry in our area.

We are proud to be working with both Travelife as well as Fair Trade Tourism to ensure that our tourism impact is meaningful and beneficial to people and the environment.

The Goal:

Community Empowerment & Environmental Protection
